The difference in the number of pages of the farm bills from 1949 to 2014, illustrate the increase of governmental involvement in agriculture. In 1949, the Agricultural Act of 1949 was 11 pages. In 2014, the bill was 357 pages long. (Journal photo by Holly Martin.)
