The Kansas Wheat Innovation Center was recently opened and dedicated in Manhattan, Kan., on the campus of Kansas State University on Friday, April 26.
High Plains Journal and Kansas Wheat have a longstanding history and Holly Martin, Tom Taylor, Lawrence Lampe, and Jennifer M. Latzke were all in attendance for this historic day. The Journal is recognized, along with Joe Berkely, on the bricks featuring names of supporters. In addition, the High Plains Journal Hospitality Bar is also a part of the new center.
This center will house organizations such as the Kansas Wheat Commission, the Kansas Wheat Alliance, Kansas Wheat and the Kansas Foundation for Ag in the Classroom. The expansive center also contains a greenhouse complex and advanced wheat breeding laboratories, and a Syngenta hosted ‘Speak for Wheat’ Test Kitchen—a high-tech area the provides facilities for testing new and existing wheat recipes developed by the Kansas Wheat Commission.
The center also holds boardrooms that can be transformed into classrooms for educational purposes.
